A different kind of move
It is a legendary building in the middle of Hamburg: the Unilever House on Dammtorwall.
An icon of Hamburg architechture and loved by Unilever’s 1,200 employees, who worked there for over 40 years.
Under the headline “Strandklar?!”, (“Ready for the beach?!”) in reference to the location of the new building “Strandkai 1", (“Beach Quay 1”) FAKTOR 3 developed an integrated employee motivation campaign which not only genuinely addressed initial resentments about the move but also aroused enthusiasm for the new workplace. br />
Comprehensive dossiers on different topics addressed critical questions and were supported by creative activities such as going jogging together around the HafenCity district in which the new building is located and a photo session with the old building. During the move, specially trained “Strandklar?!” pilots prevented employees from getting lost and received staff with a welcome pack. This included an iPod shuffle with an elaborately produced audio tour of the whole building.
To round things off, the staff proudly presented their new workplace to their relatives with a lively “Strandklar” family festival. The official opening celebration was the crowning event together with Unilever World CEO Paul Polman and Hamburg’s City Mayor Ole von Beust.
